"I'm taking you to the whorehouse to see if its a Pokemon stop."

On Saturdays, my mother volunteers at a thrift shop that supports the local animal shelter. My father and I dropped her off in town to work, and then took me on a Pokemon-fueled tour of town. He normally drives when he is here, so he's not sure where the pokestops and gyms are, so we set off to find them.

First we went up to a resort called Hillside, which is one of the higher points on the island. It has a cool entrance made of wood from the island with some shells and goat horns thrown in for flavour. I thought it would look spoopy in black and white.

Like all rich-people places on the island, Hillside is guarded by a stone lion. I think there is a rat trap underneath him, which made me laugh.

The lions guard a nice pool area with two pools and a great view of the island.

The pool is surrounded by a wall, which had an iguana sunning on it and mocking the swimmers.

I get asked a lot why I rarely post photos of the interior of the island, and from these pictures you can see why. Currently there is more rain than usual, and the island is greener than it usually is, but even without the rain it is mostly cacti and scrub, most of which contains thorns and lizards.

After leaving Hillside, we drove around to a few other island places. My father then uttered the titular phrase, and set about taking me to see the island's "gentlemen's club." It does not, in fact, have a pokestop, but it does have some wacky signage and columns.

After picking my mother up at the thrift shop, the final stop of the day was at a local sandwich shop called "Between 2 Buns." They had a pretty extensive sandwich menu, but my mind was made up as soon as I saw one of the sandwiches was called "Cannibal."

I could not pass up a cannibal sandwich, on a desert island so I ordered it sans eggs. It was decent steak tartare on good bread. Both my inner French girl and my inner New Guinean tribe member were delighted by it.
