Adventure: Part Two - Gotomeer

When last we saw our heroes, they were departing Posada Para Mira, and on the way to Gotomeer to see Flamingos. Gotomeer is a salt water lake/lagoon. One side of it is in Washington Slaagbai National Park. Bonoco oil refinery is located on the lagoons inlet. A few years ago the refinery had a fire, and the chemical extinguishers they used polluted the lake enough that flamingos stopped coming here. They are now starting to come back.

Flamingos dont look quite real when they are moving. They look more like marionettes. We saw a bunch walking around, filtering the bottom. They were so intent on doing this that it was tough to get pictures of their heads.

I had never seen one swim before, apparently they tuck up their legs and swim like swans. Either that, or this guy is really short.

Most of them were pretty far from the road, the lake just looked dotted in pink. My long lens doesn take very good wide shots, but you get the idea.

We went to an overlook of the lake. Two vans full of cruise tourists were leaving just as we arrived.
