Happy Hour

At 5PM, we go out into the yard for Happy Hour, accompanied by various beasties.

Chibis are tiny, yellow-boobed, sugar-loving birds, that are about one step down from hummingbirds on the speed scale. They flit from feeder to feeder so fast that it is hard for me to get close up pictures of them. They are pretty timid, so I am using a crazy long lens to try to get them.

I like this one because he looks cranky.

He was also yelling at the ones in the feeder. Probably telling them to get off his lawn. Or that some girl in the bushes was stalking them.

Yesterday we were also visited by a wood gecko that wanted to try the sugar. The feeders have been empty every night between all these daytime critters and the bats.

Happy hour has also become a game of Spot-the-Iguana. We noticed the first night that there were some iguanas hanging out in the tree over our heads. Having one fall/jump down on you mid drink would be a nightmare, so we have been trying not to sit directly beneath them.

Then of course the are always the crabs...
