Divemaster Night

My first major sun exposure here, walking to the Esmerelda yesterday triggered some sort of latent vampirism that causes me to get a rash of itchy bumps all over my skin. I will spare you the photos, but between that and so many mosquito bites that my mother thinks i have shingles, i have spent most of the day drugged and sleeping.

Last night we went to the happy hour dive masters night at the Zazu bar. We left just as the sun was setting and i managed to snap a quick pic out the car window as we pulled out.

We also drove past town, where a cruise ship was getting ready to leave. Bonaires population is somewhere around 17,000. In the next year they expect to get 400,000 cruise visitors. The ships dwarf the downtown area, and can be seen from all over the island. For those of you wondering, my mother did not paint this ship.

Zazu is in a marina, and has $8 burgers on Wednesdays. It (along with the neighbouring Bistro de Paris) is run by a french expat who always stops to say hello. The burgers are good, and $8 is a steal here. It is always packed on Wednesdays.

This was the view of the marina from our table outside.
