Creepy Crawlies

On Tuesday, I met some lovely iguanas at a cocktail party.  I dont mean that in a Hunter S. Thompson kinda way, though i am pretty sure this is bat country.

We went to the rum punch party at one of the local resorts. I think it is mostly for residents of the resort, but my parents normally go to it every week. Rules here are fairly fluid, and my familiy's oft spoken motto is "tooreeest, no engleesh!"

Iguanas are ubiquitous on the island, and apparently frequently fall on people from trees. We have passed many that have been roadkilled.

They are weirdly dinosaurish and kinda creepy. Also, they are terrible conversationalists, but enjoy mangos and bbq flavoured potato chips.

Also attending the cocktail party was what we think is a skink.

There is another type of lizard called a racerunner that is a bit bigger and runs around, but they are so fast that I havent been able to get a good pic of them yet.

The cocktail party also had nice views of the ocean and the Scientology cruise ship that is in town. I skipped taking pictures of that because Im terrified of Xenu.

On Wednesday night, we also heard from a local that they were opening up a sea turtle nest. We rushed to the beach, for what was obviously a big event on the island. The pics are a bit dark, as flashes were not allowed, but we watched several tiny turtles make their way to the sea.

Lastly, there was a dead porcupine fish in front of the house when we got back this morning. I think we may have been marked for death by the Bonairean mob.
